A Few Thoughts About Behavior

All of us must remember baseball is just a game. We must remember to control ourselves, and if we can't control ourselves; Please Walk Away. We are, at all times, setting examples for the players. We must teach the players not to respond to verbal abuse directed at them. Do not let it get out of hand by insisting on the last word. Jackie Robinson stayed in baseball because he answered his critics by beating his opponents on the field; not by lowering himself to their level and getting in to yelling matches.

Please remember the umpire is in charge of the game and the managers are in charge of their players. The game belongs to the players; not the spectators.

If you observe boorish or abusive behavior; please find a board member to handle the problem. It is much harder to handle two upset people than one. We want to end these problems before they escalate. If a situation has escalated to violence or near-violence (especially between kids), please step in and break it up - don't wait for a board member.

Perhaps old simple cliches are the best. If you can't think of anything nice to say, then say nothing at all. Treat people the way you want to be treated.
