Majors 11-12 Year Olds

2007 District 63 & Section 1 Little League Champions

Players: Nathaniel Palace, David Corral, Philip Bickford, Ryan Lopez, Wesley Dodge, Kevin Zablocki, Dalton Rocha, Dane Frederick, Brad Montgomery, Vinny Camacho, Chance Dingman, Cameron McDaniel.

District 63 Tournament Summary

Montalvo Little League captured the District 63 Championship Wednesday night completing a 7-0 tournament record and outscoring their opponents 53-8.

Montalvo defeated Goleta Valley South 3-2 in the Championship game behind winning pitcher Nate Palace's strong 4 inning performance and Dalton Rocha’s 2- inning save. Wesley Dodge homered to lead the offense.

In pool play, Montalvo defeated Foothill 6-2. In game 2, Montalvo defeated Saticoy 3-1. Game three saw a convincing 11-0, 5 inning victory over Carpinteria. In the final pool play game, Goleta Valley and Montalvo both entered the game at 3-0, Montalvo defeated Goleta 11-1 in 5 innings.
In the first game of cross pool play, Montalvo defeated Fillmore 14-2.

The winner’s bracket game saw Montalvo defeat Santa Paula 5-0.

Finally, in the Championship game Montalvo completed their Championship run with their second victory over the strong Goleta Valley team.

For the tournament Kevin Zablocki had 11 RBI and 2 HR. Palace had 4 HR and hit .750 along with 2 wins pitching. Dalton Rocha led the team with 10 runs scored, a home run and got the save in the championship game. Phillip Bickford was 3-0 pitching with 25 K’s , 4 H, 0 BB and no runs allowed in 10 1/3 innings work . Wesley Dodge had 2 HR and 7 RBI along with picking up 2 wins pitching. David Coral homered twice and made some great plays in right field. Ryan Lopez homered and played a near perfect second base. Cameron McDaniel was 5 for 8 at the plate. Brad Montgomery anchored center field and added 5 hits. Dane Frederick hit two doubles. Vicente Camacho and Chance Dingman played well defensively and added a few hits. The team is managed by Frank Dodge with David Rocha as coach. It was Montalvo’s first District 63 Championship since 1994. The team will now move on to Section 1 play in Nipomo.\

The Team Completes a 3 Game Sweep at Section 1 to Capture the Title

Game 1: 07-14-07 As reported via MPSN: Final Score Montalvo 7 Moorpark 1. Bickford goes 5 1/3 innings for the win with Palace coming in for the final 2 outs. Palace also hit a Ruthian-like home run. Frederick with a bases loaded 2 out 2 run single.

Game 2: 07-15-07 MPSN report: Final Score Montalvo 8 Paso Robles 2. Dalton Rocha went 3 2/3 innings for the win with Nathaniel Palace and Wesley Dodge finishing up the game in relief. Dodge had 3 hits including 2 doubles. Philip Bickford and Palace each hit home runs.

Championship Game: 07-17-07 MPSN reporter was too wrung out after a gut wrenching 9 inning victory to report anything more than "It was a tight game but Montalvo pulled it out against Orcutt 5-3 in 9 innings". The game saw the umpires deliberate about calling the game on account of darkness and then deciding to allow it to go 1 more inning. Ryan Lopez led off the 9th with a double just before the sprinklers in left field came on. After an approximate 10 minute delay, the game continued while Ranger Smith was chomping at the bit to close the park. Wesley Dodge singled in the go ahead run and later scored on a Nathaniel Palace single. Palace then went out and closed out the game in the bottom of the 9th completing 6 innings in relief of starting pitcher Philip Bickford who went 3 innings. Among the highlights was a stellar catching performance from Dalton Rocha and 2 singles for Kevin Zablocki including 1 RBI.

Game 1: 07-21-07 Final Score Crescent Valley 14 Montalvo 4. Montalvo trailed 5-4 after 4 but was unable to hold down a good hitting Crescenta Valley team.

Game 2: 07-22-07 Final Score West LA 7 Montalvo 2. End of the line. The team had a great run and advanced further than any major team in Montalvo League history. Congratulations!

10 & 11 Year Old Division

Players: Eddie Vasquez, Ryan Coker, Eric Viles, Kyle Cook, Kyren Barrios, Conner Corsentino, Ryen Teron, James Vizzo, Jacob Anderson, Evan Gutierrez, Rori McMillian and Jared Johnson.

The team went 0-2 at district.

9 & 10 Year Old Division

Players: Jesse Kelly, Brandon Garber, Colin Bendinelli, Chris Colborn, Bryson Wallet, Jacob Valdes, Connor Macarthur, Andrew Wills, Andrew Campos, Barrett Connelly, Blake Burnett, Kyle Mahoney.

The team went 2-2 at district.
